74. RUDY

Absolutely one of the best games of all time! THE best sports movie of all time.  NO movie makes me cry more than RUDY! Seriously, I am a grown man and I have no problem admitting that this movie makes me just weep. So good.
Rudy, played by Sean Astin (Goonies & Lord of the Rings), is the story of die hard Notre Dame football fan whose  life long dream is to play for the Irish. The True Story.  But there are some factors that are preventing our Hero from playing for his dream true.  His father doesn’t believe in him, his girlfriend doesn’t believe in him, he has no real football skill other than being a tackle dummy, his grades are horrible and he has limited funds. The only person that does believe in him is his best friend Pete.  Then when Pete dies in a horrific accident that is when Rudy decides to follow his dreams a good 4 yrs past high school.
Rudy goes to Notre Dame. Well first he has to take two years at Holy Cross College. Then he finally gets into Notre Dame. He makes it as a walk on player on the team.  He is there with the team, he is at practice but he never makes it onto the team.  Finally in the last game of his senior year, on the last play Rudy gets in the game. The stadium is chanting RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!  Man what an ending! And one of my Top Ten Favorite Movies of all time!

Final Verdict: YES! YES! Own it.

73. The Incredibles

Ok. Let’s just get it out in the open. I don’t like The Incredibles. I never have. I think that Pixar dropped the ball on it. From the first time I saw the trailer I didn’t want to see.  The only Pixar movie that is worse is WALL-E which happens to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Ever since I first heard of The Incredibles I instantly thought it was a Fantastic Four rip off.  Just take the FF super powers and put them in a family. There you have it. Unlike other Pixar movies I just thought this movie’s plot was not that good. Poorly put together.  Some of the supporting cast is fine.  But this movie has just never clicked with me. My wife can’t believe it. She loves, thus we own it.

Final Verdict: Not worth owning.

72. Legendary

Anytime that a pro wrestle who has reachs a certain level of fame in the WWE one thing happens. They decide that means that they are entitled to may things. Including it seems that they can star in movies. Following in the footsteps of Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and The Rock comes John Cena. Yes, the YOU CAN’T SEE ME, John Cena.
u cant see me
Cena’s latest venture from WWE films is Legendary.  Taking a break from the action star John Cena we get the deep, emotional, loving John Cena.  Now don’t get wrong he is still hard core and a troubled man. But in this movie he comes to grips with his demons and helps his little brother by teaching how to wrestle. Not WWE but real wrestling
Cena is decent but you never forget he is John Cena. Unlike The Rock, who has made the jump into Dwayne Johnson, Cena hasn’t learned yet to totally dive into the role and disappear. The supporting cast is good this time, Danny Glover makes appearances and is solid as always.  I guess the movie is fine for the direct to DVD fare but not to be seen in Theatres.  Final Verdict: Not worth owning

71. Star Wars IV: A New Hope

What else can be said about one of the greatest movies all time? What else can be said about the pure genius that is Star Wars. George Lucas created a masterpiece that has stood the test of time and will always be one of the greatest cinematic creations of all time.
The characters of Luke, Leia, Han, & Chewy! The best villain of any movie EVER! Even the lame changes and bonus scenes Lucas has now tainted the classic with doesn’t take away from the same movie that captivated me as a child. It still captivates me now!
That's not a moon. That's a space station.
It was a thrill to take an afternoon to watch this movie. Nothing even comes close to this movie and probably never will. Throw in the fact that there are 6 of these movies it is just so great! After the Magical Movie Box made me watch Sleeping Beauty the day before it was so nice to reward that sacrifice with Star Wars. A movie that transplants all of us to a galaxy far far away every time.

Final Verdict: Duh! Winning! Own it!

Other Tidbits:
If this is a counselor's ship where is the ambassador?

I also have to mention John Williams with one of the best scores ever. It makes the movie. Star Wars would not be Star Wars without the genius of John Williams

70. Sleeping Beauty

Gross. Lets sing about it!
It's  been awhile since I was made to watch one my wife’s lovely movies. But the Magical Movie Box decided that it was that time again. So I got the pleasure of watching Sleeping Beauty. Which we own the 2 disc platinum 50th anniversary edition.
I just can't stand musicals sometimes. Just drive me crazy in the fact that they have to sing about everything. In a movie that is only 75 minutes long why do we need 10 songs?  Really?!  The story of Aurora who is cursed by an Evil Queen. At 16 she will prick her finger and something will happen. I honestly don’t remember. There was just so much singing!
What I do remember was that there are three women that watch over her. They kept calling her Rose and it was confusing me. But the three ladies were the funniest part of the movie. I also noticed that there were a lot of similarities between Sleeping Beauty and Tangled.  At least this one was a short Disney Musical. Not like some of them that can drag on for hours.

Final Verdict: Not my choice.

69. Mr. Mom

Most people don’t know this but Michael Keaton is a very good Comedic actor. He is very, very funny and kind of has a manic everyday comedy character that he plays. One of the funniest movies that he has done is Mr. Mom. Circa 1983.
What happened here?
Mr. Mom, directed by Aaron Spelling!, is the story of man who is fired from his job at an auto plant and then becomes a stay at home dad when his wife gets a job. Think Daddy Day Care but this time he doesn’t start a business.  Well, of course, being the professional man that he is he has no clue how to handle his three children or the chores of the house. Actually it kind of makes him come across as a moron who doesn’t even know how to buy groceries.
Insanity ensues along with the funny moments of a fish out of water life. The script is funny and well written and you will be surprised to find that John Hughes himself wrote Mr. Mom.

Final Verdict: I got it free so worth owning.

68. Limitless

One question that I had going into this movie as not 1. Will this be a good movie. 2. What will be the twist in this movie but the question was this: Will Bradley Cooper be able to hold is own as the star of movie?
so this one little pill will make me a handsome leading man?
Up  until then Cooper has been  regulated to supporting roles. You know the best friend, or like in A Team part of a big cast.  But in Limitless he finally gets the chance to shine and you know what he does just fine. And Limitless as a movie? Really good. The movie is about writer/slacker (Cooper) who is going no where in life. In fact the day we meet him he gets dumped.  Oh and he had been trying to write the same book for like 4 years. SO he runs into his ex-brother-in-law and he gives in to trying this new pill. This pill can open up your entire brain. So he is the perfect version of himself.
What follows is kind of generic grant you.  Moral dilemmas, excess of riches, women, wine and song. But it keeps your attention and Cooper shows some real depth here in his struggle to find himself while in the midst of striving to survive.

Final Verdict: Maybe not own but I will watch again.

67. Grown Ups

Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade and Kevin James. Five comedy actors getting together to basically hang out with each other, rip on each other and oh yeah make a movie. Really, while the movie is funny, it comes across like just a reason to get together with all your best friends and act up. But it works.
The plot is slim. 5 childhood best friends all grown up and back to together for their childhood basketball coach's funeral. They have all gone on to different life styles and different paths. Some are rich (Sandler), some are house husbands (Rock) and some are just still single (Spade). The best thing about this movie is Kevin James which I could write a whole blog about how much I love James. He is one of my favorites ever.  The movie is funny but there are some risqué parts in it.
Cool story behind this movie is that these guys thought up this movie while they were all still on Saturday Night Live but with Chris Farley instead of James. It was an idea they always talked about but with the death of Farley they never thought they could pull it off. Sandler was quoted in saying that Kevin James is someone that this group thought they would never find again in their comedy group. So that was nice.

Final Verdict: Could see me owning it one day if I find it cheap.
