104. D3: The Mighty Ducks

Did this movie need to be made? No. Is it the worst sequel ever. No. So many worse sequels out there. In fact this movie is actually more enjoyable than I remember. I think in my mind it is remembered as worse than it is just because D2 is so good and a great sequel.
D3 finds the Ducks gang all receiving full scholarships to attend the Eden Hall Academy. Not only is it one of the finest prep/private schools in all of Minnesota but it is a Hockey power house. The Ducks think that they are brought in to rule the school and lead the Eden Hall Warriors to victory! BUT NO!!!! In fact not only does their beloved Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez) leave them in the hands of the evil Coach Orion, they also realize that they are the JUNIOR varsity team. The whole world is ending!?!?!?! What are they going to do!!!!!
But it is  Disney movie and that is about how crazy the conflict gets. Life lessons are learned, pranks are pulled and everyone hugs and cheers. Oh! and (Spolier Alert!) Eden Hall changes their name to the Ducks. Awesome. Like I said, not the worst sequel. Quack Quack!

Final Verdict: If you own the other two you have to own this one.

103. The Chaperone

Straight from WWE films comes The Chaperone!!!! A loving and touching story about an ex-con played by Triple H who gets out of prison and tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Triple H's Ray Bradstone is the best get away driver there is but he wants to escape that life and make amends.
But life is that easy. Or is this movie very good.
WWE has been doing this for awhile. Making this crazy and insanely bad movies as starring vehicles for their WWE stars. I dont know how much more longer this can go on. The people of this world need to be spared of this. This movie's plot, if you can say that, is that Ray ends up going on a field trip with his daughter.  While on this field trip two of his old buddies in crime are out to get him. All because they stashed the bank money (that they just stole) on the school's field trip bus. If that sounds crazy, it is.

Final Verdict:Not even worth watching for sure not Worth Owning.

102. Catch Me if You Can

Tom Hanks. Steven Spielberg. Leonardo DiCaprio. How can a movie featuring all three of these great movie men go wrong? Then throw in a sprinkle of Christopher "Two mice fell into a bucket of cream" Walken and you get absolute movie magic.
CMIYC is the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr who as a teenager become one of the most wanted by the FBI for cashing in millions of fake checks.  The story revolves around a cat and mouse race of Abagnale, played by DiCaprio, and The FBI that is tracking him all over the world played Hanks. Along the way our young Frank Jr poses as a Airline Pilot, a Lawyer AND a doctor. He gets engaged, he gets caught, he escapes and ultimately finds redemption.
I got you!
From a movie stand point CMIYC is a total knock out. Everything from the script, the acting, the musical score and cinematography everything hits on 100%. A great great movie. There is really nothing bad to say about this movie. It was everything from Action to Comedy.

Final Verdict: Worth Owning. 100%.

101. Real Genius

Would you call this movie obscure? I'm not sure if that is the term Im looking for. I love this movie, always have. But it seems like a lot of people have never heard of it. But its a nice little gem of a flick.
Real Genius stars a young Val Kilmer. Kilmer before the Batman days. Kilmer stars as Chris Knight a young super genius who is in charge of a laser program at his university. He is also in charge of a young new genius named Mitch who has just come to school at the ripe young age of 15. What these guys dont know is that their laser work  is for government. A top secret laser project that can pinpoint a human on Earth from outer space and destroy that human! Perfect 80's movie glory!
Real Genius is a great movie. It is over shadow by a lot of other 80's movies like Back to the Future, The Goonies or even Weird Science. But it shines and if you ever get a chance to watch it, take that chance. Kilmer also showed a lot of promise for comedic acting and one would like to see what would have happened if he kept that up. It also stars Jon Gries, Uncle Rico, himself in a great role as Laslo the guy who lives in the dorm room closet. Again, Pure 80's glory!

Final Verdict: Worth owning and worth watching if you get the chance.

100. School of Rock

I am really sick right not so this blog may be short. I love School of Rock. It goes along with what I call the perfect storm theory of movies and actors. Up to know Jack Black had made a small name, some success. Mostly as the sidekick, in a ensemble or in certain pet projects. But with School of Rock the perfect storm all came together and he hit a grand slam.
The perfect storm theory has to do with the fact that this movie came together, the stars aligned, everything played to Black's strength. It was the perfect vehicle for him. Black's humor does not work sometimes unless its really tailored to him, for example Gulliver's Travels. Not a good movie. But School of Rock he nailed every aspect of the movie. One genius part that the casting did was casting children that were musicians first and actors second. With the exception being Miranda Cosgrove who of course went on to I Carly fame.
Again, everything came together for Jack Black. He was able to draw in people that wanted to see this movie despite the fact that it was a Black starring vehicle. Great movie, great music.

Final Verdict: WORTH OWNING. was really excited that this was number 100!

99. Soul Surfer

Soul Surfer is a great inspirational movie based on the true story of pro surfer Bethany Hamilton. Hamilton grew up right on the beach in Hawaii and describes her childhood as spending more time wet than dry. We see this young girl grow up with her best friend, learning to surf from a early age.
Even though this is a hollywood production they do a great job showing how important Bethany's and her family's faith is to them. They show her and her parents, played by Dennis Quad and Helen Hunt, going to church services, reading their Bibles and spending time in prayer. Most times the movies just gloss over the spiritual element. But it was a pleasant surprise to see the Faith portrayed here
The mainly revolves around the fact that Hamiltion loses her left arm to shark attack during the summer she is trying enter and win the junior national surfing championship. We see right on the screen the struggle she faces as she fights to learn how to surf all over again. Not only does she, but even better than before. In a nice surprise country star Carrie Underwood plays Bethany's youth minister in the film. She a does a great job. Very great movie. Very great message.

Final Verdict: Worth owning.

98. PUSH

Push is a really bad wannabe XMEN movie. I did not enjoy it all. It dragged a lot and actually quite confusing at times. It jumps all over the place and introduces a lot of different characters. It is, if I am being honest, a movie that would be better served as a TV series. That way you can take your time.
Some people in the world have special powers. They can move things, see the future, convince to do things they don’t want to and scream really loud. That is all what the people in Push have. There is also a all powerful society called Division that is trying to take these people and make them into a Super Human Fighting Militia. Like I said the plot gets confusing, the cute little nicknames that they give the powers are lame and it just drags in spots.  The soundtrack is very good though and Dakota Fanning who stars as one of the people with special powers was really good in it.

 Final Verdict: NO.

97. I am Legend

Great movie. Great actor. Great effects. All around great time.  I actually haven’t watched this movie in a few years so I was excited to pop it in. Here are some thoughts from me having watched it for the first time in a few years.
Will Smith is a stud. How many actors can carry an entire movie basically by themselves? Tom Hanks can as proved in Cast Away.  Smith does it here and does tremendously. I love Smith, one of my favorite actors.
Lot scarier than I remembered. Their are some really intense parts of this movie! I forgot how crazy it gets.
Willow Smith has a small cameo as Will Smith’s daughter in the movie. Sadly, she did not whip her hair. That was disappointing.
Finally, how sad is this movie? There are some real tear jerking and depressing moments! I wish Smith will go back to making comedy movies and take a break from all the depressing work like Happyness and Seven Pounds. But I don’t remember this movie being this sad!

Final Verdict: WORTH OWNING!

96. RIO

My wife loves cartoon movies. Like, LOVES them. Now I dont have too much trouble with them and she really wanted to see the new cartoon movie RIO. I thought it was about the Angry Birds Rio but it wasnt. But it does have George Lopez and Tracey Morgan so that was good!
Rio is the story about a blue cockatoo that is kidnapped, birdnapped?, taken from his native homeland and transferred to the US but ends up falling off the truck in Minnesota. Where a lovely little finds him, raises him, loves him and they become the best of friends. This cockatoo is voiced by Jesse Eisenberg who created facebook.
The story takes off when we find out that Blu, great name for a cockatoo, is the only remaining Blue Cockatoo in the entire world and is needed in Rio to mate with the only female Blue Cockatoo voiced by Anne Hathaway. Of course things dont go that easy and they are kidnapped, birdnapped?, taken again!!! They escape and the race is on to get back to their owners. Along the way they are joined by a Lopez who was great as Tucan and Jordan as a bulldog. Oh and the soundtrack is awesome!

Final Verdict: I wouldnt own it but I think my wife will buy it!

95. Just My Luck

Really the tale of two careers. On one hand you have Lindsay Lohan who is the STAR of Just My Luck. Lohan who would go on from this movie to star in............exactly. Lohan becomes more of a star of the tabloids than the movies. Then you have the other star in this movie: Chris Pine. Pine would go on to star in the Star Trek and Unstoppable. Two different careers. Just their Luck.
Well Just My Luck is the movie we are to blog about. JML to the hard core fans is about a successful New York City businesswoman who has all the luck in the world and a guy who is a band manager who has no luck and in movie magic they kiss and their luck switches! It is interesting to watch this a 1. Remember that Lohan is actually a funny gifted actress and its sad that all this has happened and 2. Pine is really funny!! I know that now he is on the action star route but their is great comedic chops there. But listen this is a cute movie, it doesnt break the mold and is not Oscar material. But on a rainy day its fun to watch.
Final Verdict: If you find it in the 5 dollar bin then pick up.

94. The CORE

Yes The Core. The forgotten disaster movie.  The fact that I even own it is funny to me. This is how much I love disaster movies! I own the movie about the Earth’s core stopping and the whole world going into whackness.
The cast of this movie is so crazy good.  Think about it. Aaron Eckhart from The Dark Knight. Hilary Swank, who has won TWO OSCARS! Stanly Tucci, from The Devil Wears Prada and Delroy Lindo from Gone in 60 Seconds.  How can this movie go wrong!!!?! Oh yeah, it’s a movie about the Earth’s core stopping .
So the band of great actors in a mediocre movie join together in a ship and try to drill their way to the center of the Earth to save us all. OF course going to the center of the Earth is a dangerous thing. Not easy for anyone.  But it does serve to bring disaster on Earth and again that is why I love it.  It is the core of all movies. To be in a world that doesn’t exist.

Final Verdict: Its fun. Worth it.

93. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Turtles in Time

Absolutely horrible movie. Should never have been made.  A shameful film that takes a great movie franchise and totally sends it back to the sewer. HORRIBLE. I can’t even begin to tell you how mad watching this movie made me.
Turtles 3 takes the TMNT gang from NYC back in time. Where they are trying to stop an evil dictator from taking over and destroying a village. Man this movie is so bad. SO SO SO SO bad. I hate it and it’s a disgrace to a beloved cartoon, comic book and action figures. The turtles deserve better. So much better. Please do not watch this. Please do not own this movie. In fact pretend it doesn’t exist. Just remember the first two movies.

 Final Verdict: NOT WORTH OWNING.

92. Christmas at the Kranks

It is so weird to watch a Christmas in April. But it is fun. Christmas with the Kranks is not most people’s favorite Christmas movie. Granted it is not a “classic” such as Home Alone or Miracle on 34th St. But Kranks, starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, is a cute and funny movie.
Christmas with the Kranks is based on the John Grisham book, or novella, called Skipping Christmas. The book is even funnier than the movie and why in the world did they feel that Christmas with the Kranks was a better title is beyond me. Well Kranks is about a Mom and Dad whose only daughter has gone off to be in the Peace Corps and will not be there for Christmas for the first time ever.
So the hijinks begin when the Kranks decide to skip Christmas. A total boycott. No tree, no presents, no decorations and especially no annual Kranks Christmas eve party. Instead the Kranks decide to go on a cruise.  No one understands their decision. Their friends are upset. Their neighbors are upset. In fact the neighbor tries to lead a revolt.  The movie is fun.  Don’t go into it and think it’s the greatest thing ever and you might enjoy it.

Final Verdict: If you find it cheap then pick it up.
