Ahhhhhh, The Sixth Sense. The movie that put M. Night Shyamalan on the map. The movie that scored Bruce Willis one of his biggest hits ever and the movie that made the world “See dead people”.
Now hopefully you have seen The Sixth Sense or at least seen 50 First Dates so you know the end of the movie. But I will keep it under wraps. So basically the movie is about a child psychologist, Willis, who finds his way into the life of a young child played amazingly by Haley Joel Osment. This child’s parents have divorced and he is becoming mor e and more withdrawn and just, well, weird.
I see Dead People |
The movie follows as Willis helps the young lad deal with his life and with a dark secret that he has been hiding. Straight up serious the scene where HJO reveals his secret to Willis is by far one of the greatest and scariest scenes I have seen in a film. Willis is great in this movie, Toni Collete who plays the mom in this movie is amazing. One of the biggest problems M. Night has had in his career is that he hit a grand slam early in his career and most people think he is still trying to get back to this level. I disagree because I think both Lady in the Water and Signs are better movies. But the Sixth Sense is amazing.
Final Verdict: Worth Owning.
This is a great movie. Great cast. Osment should have won the oscar for this role but he lost to Michael Caine. Lets be honest Michael Caine is good in whatever he is in. So I guess I undertstand
ReplyDeleteOtherwise kinda boring til BaM EnDiNg. I know a PK who looks like that kid. . . But she's a she. . . And grown up now. So, not anymore, but she does see dead people, well, zombies anyway."
ReplyDeleteI have only seen it once. I thought it was goo but I knew what the end was going to be because of 50 First Dates. Thanks alot Drew Barrymore! Still it was enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite memories from college was standing in the student lounge in the music building while Dennis Dye retold the ENTIRE plot to the movie before I had watched it. It took about 20 minutes because of all the detail he threw in. Thanks to him, no surprise ending. :( Gotta love Dennis Dye. :)
