17. Vantage Point

I am very happy to watch this movie. The whole blog challenge is for movies like this. I have owned this movie (an impulsive bargain blu-ray one day at Blockbuster) for over year and have yet to watch it. We saw it in theaters and I liked it. So when I saw it at Blockbuster for $5.99 on blu-ray I thought it was worth it to pick up. But I had yet to watch it!
Vantage Point is about an assassination attempt on the President which is told over and over again from 8 different viewpoints (vantage points).  Sounds confusing but it isn’t and it really works. The movie stars two of my favorite actors--Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox (Jack Shepherd baby!)--as two secret service agents who are assigned to the President played by William Hurt (The Village baby!). After the attempted assassination the movie rewinds and starts out from Dennis Quaid's point of view.  Then retold again and again.
The idea may be kind of a gimmick to get people interested but it also keeps people guessing. There are many plots and twists throughout.  I also love the fact that movie is so fast paced! Here is a tip: Don’t turn your eyes away. This a movie that you need to watch all of it.  Pay attention!  I almost must put in that this is an amazing blu-ray. Spectacular. One of the best I have seen.

Final Verdict: for 6 bucks? I got one sweet deal! Worth it!

  1. I remember that this movie was pretty interesting because you notice so many new things when you watch the other points of view. I don't remember how it ends so maybe I should watch it again.

  2. I saw this movie and thought it was very good. I loved the idea of seeing the same thing from 8 different people. Great concept that works very well. I agree with Jimmy, Dennis Quaid is one of my fav actors too. This movie has a little bit in common with a movie Johnny Depp made a few year back call "Nick of Time". anyway, I liked this movie...if you like fast paced movies with good twists...this is the flick for you. worth it!

  4. I have had trouble with this movie. Mainly because, as you say, you can't look away. And, every time it comes on, I am busy doing something else. I get focused on it for a few minutes, and when I look back at the screen I go "what the heck is going on??" As a result, I really couldn't tell you how it ends. :)
