86. Morning Glory

First thing that should be made clear: Morning Glory is not a romantic comedy. It is not a Chick Flick. It is a comedy and happens to have a female in the lead. But there is no relationship that on the brink of blossoming then shattering then blossoming again. There is a big misconception out there that it is a chick flick. No, just a comedy.
J.J. Abrams is one of my favorites out there. From Alias to LOST to the extremely underrated Cloverfield to Star Trek to Fringe to the upcoming Super 8 most of the stuff Abrams and his Bad Robot production has done is Sci-fi/action related. So when I saw that Bad Robot was doing a comedy like Morning Glory I was interested. Also the movie stars Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford. In fact Ford is the funniest part of the movie and steals every scene he is in.
Morning Glory is a great movie. It centers around McAdams’ character as she becomes the new executive producer of a failing morning talk show called DayBreak.  She convinces a once proud and well seasoned news anchor (FORD), who takes the news SERIOUS!, to come and be the new co-anchor of this Daybreak show and the craziness begins! This movie is one you should watch if not just for Ford’s performance. Plus it is really, really funny.

Final Verdict: Worth owning. It’s great.

17. Vantage Point

I am very happy to watch this movie. The whole blog challenge is for movies like this. I have owned this movie (an impulsive bargain blu-ray one day at Blockbuster) for over year and have yet to watch it. We saw it in theaters and I liked it. So when I saw it at Blockbuster for $5.99 on blu-ray I thought it was worth it to pick up. But I had yet to watch it!
Vantage Point is about an assassination attempt on the President which is told over and over again from 8 different viewpoints (vantage points).  Sounds confusing but it isn’t and it really works. The movie stars two of my favorite actors--Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox (Jack Shepherd baby!)--as two secret service agents who are assigned to the President played by William Hurt (The Village baby!). After the attempted assassination the movie rewinds and starts out from Dennis Quaid's point of view.  Then retold again and again.
The idea may be kind of a gimmick to get people interested but it also keeps people guessing. There are many plots and twists throughout.  I also love the fact that movie is so fast paced! Here is a tip: Don’t turn your eyes away. This a movie that you need to watch all of it.  Pay attention!  I almost must put in that this is an amazing blu-ray. Spectacular. One of the best I have seen.

Final Verdict: for 6 bucks? I got one sweet deal! Worth it!
