18. For Love of the Game

Yeah! Another baseball movie. Maybe the Magical Movie Box (see earlier post) is trying to help me out and my longing for the boys of summer to return. I have been missing baseball like crazy. I can't wait for the season to begin. Baseball is the greatest past time ever. I don’t know how people don’t like it. Seriously. It's amazing.
I think Cardinals are in for an interesting season. I think it could go either way. They could win it all or have a disappointing finish in the NL Central. They have made some interesting moves this off season. Gone is Brendan Ryan, Brad Penny and Flip Lopez. Here are Lance Berkman and Ryan Theriot.  Underlining all this is the drama and suspense of Albert Pujols' contract and if the Cards are going to resign him or not…..Wait. This is a movie blog. Sorry!
For the Love of the Game. The romantic movie starring Kevin Costner as a end of his career pitcher who is pitching his final game. Throughout the game you get flashbacks to his relationship with the woman of his dreams. The whole relationship comes before our eyes in between innings of the game. I would not call this a Romantic Comedy at all. There are very few funny parts. But it's interesting.  It can drag at times and it seems that they are moving too slow sometimes. But by the end of the game when Costner's perfect game is on the line. You are so involved it's worth the long trip to get there.

Final Vedict: I'm torn. Up in the air.  But it was fun watching this one with Dustin, Shaina, and Christiana.

  2. I actually do like this movie. It can be drawn out at times, but I'd say it's worth owning. It's now in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. First time I saw it was with Jenna...which goes to show you how old this movie is :)

About this season, I'm super pumped to see it start! I'm thinking this year could go either way. We just seem to have an old team. I know it's balanced, but it feels old. I think it's because there's such a talent gap between the veterans/younger guys. If we have injuries like the past couple of years, kiss the season goodbye. Reds are looking like they'll give us a run for out money...again.

  3. Like this move for 2 reasons. #1) Baseball, 'nuff said. #2) baseball. #3) Kevin Costner. Though this role is more dramatic than his role in Bull Durham, I still thought is was a very good vehicle for him to show his dramatic skills. okay...I do ave 3 reasons, but HEY...it's BASEBALL!!!!!
