128. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Here is what my take on Attack of the Clones has always been. If you could take out Hayden Christensen you have one amazing movie. Seriously this guy cannot act and since its so bad it brings down what in other words is a solid movie.
Clones picks up where Phantom Menace left off just 10 years later. It serves as an origin story on dual levels. It gives us the origin of Padme' and Anakin's love. The origin of Boba Fett and the origin of how the Stormtroopers came to be. More importantly it is the beginning of a war. THE war that leads up to everything we already know and love about the first three episodes.
Ewan McGregor IS the best thing to ever come out of the Star Wars prequels. His performance as Obiwan is the best thing and acting of probably ALL 6 Star Wars and in here he takes the lead and shines. But of course "That's why Im here." I can't write this blog without mentioning one of the best Star Wars moments, if not one the best moments in movie history. The moment where we finally see Master Yoda drop the walking stick and pick up a light saber. That 2 minutes is almost worth the entire prequels being made.

Final Verdict: Solid movie. Worth Owning.

57. Takers

While the concept behind a move like Takers may be strong.--kind of like a modern, hip hop version of Ocean’s Eleven. The execution was lacking some.  It goes to show you again that Musicians/Rappers/Athletes etc should not be Actors and really vice versa.
Takers is about a group of professionals whose sole job is to rob. They plan one job a year. SO basically every year they found a bank, jewelry store etc and “Take” from them.  The story base is set up when one of the crew that was imprisoned gets out and comes to the rest of the group with a “job” he found on the inside.  They take this job even though they know that it’s only been two days since their last job. If they were as smart as we are supposed to be taking this job makes no sense.
The movie does star Hayden Christensen, of Darth Vader fame, as one of team’s explosives experts.  Hayden gets a nice scene where he goes all Anakin after his mom dies on a group of guys trying to do him wrong. This movie would just be a waste and not remembered if it wasn’t for one outstanding sequence in which the cops try to chase down one of the crew members who is an expert at Parkour or street running. That whole sequence is amazing and THE highlight to the film.

Final Verdict: Maybe if the entire movie was all parkour I would own it.
